How To Sell On Amazon For Beginners

Ok… by now you should know that most of my posts are about private label and how to sell on Amazon. Firstly, congratulations on having done some research about doing business on the internet and having a basic understanding of what e-commerce is about. Most of you are probably hustling, looking for more opportunities and trying to create more time for your family and loved ones. Using the internet as a means to target a global audience makes the most logical sense. The fact is you not confined to your physical area, county or even country. The internet today has provided so many opportunities for people to create secondary incomes and even allowing them to quit their full-time employment and solely focus on their internet business.

 

However, I decided to focus on physical product private labelling to start my e-commerce journey. It’s been a year that I started doing my research and 2 products later I am selling on Amazon my very own brand registered private label. So let me get into it of what it means to sell on Amazon your own private label. This post is all about how to sell on Amazon for beginners.

 

The steps to selling on Amazon are as follows:

  1. Create your brand name and logo.
  2. Look for product demand on the Amazon platform.
  3. Source suppliers using Alibaba, Ali Wholesale or Ali Express.
  4. Chat to suppliers in China / USA for OEM / Private Label.
  5. Get quotes from freight forwarders. Ask them to deliver door to door.
  6. Send the product with your own brand to Amazon FBA centre.
  7. Create your product listing page.
  8. Wait for people to buy your product.
  9. Get paid every 2 weeks.

 

 

Seems simple doesn’t it??? Well, I’m not here to sugar coat anything. It’s not a get rich quick scheme. This is a real business that will take commitment and patience to build from the ground up but the rewards are quickly received compared to many traditional businesses models. The amount of capital required is far less than traditional business but that all depends on which products you will be selling.

 

In the weeks to follow, I will explain each of the above steps in more details and provide you with the resources I am using for my Amazon business.

  1. I’ve made money from the Amazon affiliate program, but now I’m also looking into eCommerce startup, and Fulfillment by Amazon certainly seems like a great option for selling your products. 🙂

    I think it’s awesome that Amazon makes the process of selling your products a lot easier, and even better that you’re paid every 14 days from Amazon.

    Like affiliate marketing, I can see that time and effort are required to make money from FBA.

      It’s awesome getting paid every 14 days from Amazon. There is definitely effort required like any business. It’s not a get rich quick scheme. If you want to build a long-term sustainable business you need to build it and automate it. Have a look at the course I mentioned. They have all the training and mentorship if you want to get started.

  2. I have sold physical products on Amazon in the past – mostly second hand video games and such. It’s surprising how much people will pay for these – some of them acquire a rarity value after a certain time, others are barely worth the shipping cost.

    Sourcing them was a lot of work, so I did think of getting into different product ranges – and sourcing from China. The main thing that held me back was concern over getting shoddy goods.

    How do you make sure that you’re dealing with a trustworthy trader when they’re on the other side of the world? I’m interested to know your strategies for getting good quality goods from China. Look forward to reading more in future.

      Thanks for your comment. Yes, a great way to start your own e-commerce journey is starting on Amazon and using their fba program. As for dealing with shoddy work from china I will dedicate a post to answer that but all my products are sourced from china and exceptional quality at that.
